Publishing a Post from the Substack App
You can publish posts directly from the Substack app on iOS and Android. For desktop publishing, refer to these steps.
Steps to Publish a Post

Open the App: Tap the orange “plus” button on the Home screen and select “Post”.

Draft Your Post: Type directly into the editor, using various formatting and embed options.

Add Images: Tap the plus icon to insert images or create sections with divider lines.

Add Links: Use the link icon to hyperlink text or add URLs.

Lists and Quotes: Format text as bulleted or numbered lists, or as block quotes.

Undo/Redo: Use the arrow icon to undo or redo actions.

Keyboard View: Tap the keyboard icon to view your draft without obstruction.

Text Formatting: Highlight text to access options like size, bold, italics, strikethrough, and code.
Note: Drafts are autosaved in the app and can only be edited there. Web syncing is coming soon.

Publish Your Post: Tap “Next” when ready.

Audience Selection: Choose who receives your post—everyone, free subscribers, paid subscribers, or founding members.

Notifications: Notify subscribers via email and push notifications, or publish to the web.
Note: Posts can't be edited in the app after publishing but can be edited on the web.

Additional Information
- Comments: For free accounts, comments are open to everyone by default. This can be changed on the web.
- Upcoming Features: Scheduling and post previews will be added soon. Video and podcast posts are also in development.
- Current Limitations: Some web features, like certain embeds and buttons, are not yet available in the app editor.
